Preserving Our Community

Bosque County is more than just a place on the map. It's a community that has been here for generations. A place where kids can still play safely in the streets and where neighbors look out for one another. This is a cherished way of life that I aim to preserve.

As your County Attorney, my focus will extend beyond the courtroom. I am committed to:

• Conservative Legal Approach: Upholding the law with wisdom and a sense of fairness that respects our community's values and traditions.

• Local Decision-Making: I will aim to ensure that decisions impacting our community are made here, at home, reflecting the needs and wishes of Bosque County residents.

• Community Engagement: I believe in government transparency and community engagement.

About the Candidate

My family can trace its roots in Bosque County back to the late 1800s when William Tillie “WT” Poston settled his family in the Mosheim area. The Smiths came shortly thereafter, with the arrival of Charles Ashbury Smith to Wortham Bend, also in the late 19th century. My family’s ranch in Mosheim is a part of the old Poston ranch there. I believe that Bosque County is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I enjoy doing business with the people here. There are not many places left in the world where you can look a man in the eye, shake his hand, and feel comfortable with a deal, but Bosque County is still one of those places.

• Family and Community: Family is at the heart of everything I do. As a husband and parent, I understand the importance of creating a safe environment for our children and future generations. I aim to be involved in the community and will continue doing so as your County Attorney.

• Legal Expertise: In my general law practice I have handled matters ranging from civil litigation against multibillion dollar companies to criminal defense representation of homeless individuals. My experience further includes probate, estate planning, divorce, CPS, real estate law, water law and more. I am equipped to handle the responsibilities of serving the county as County Attorney.

• Personal Values: As a conservative Christian, my principles are deeply aligned with the values of our community. I believe in justice, integrity, and the importance of maintaining the rule of law.

Policy Priorities

I will focus on addressing the issues that matter most to our community. I am dedicated to advocating for policies that reflect our shared values and enhance the quality of life in our county. I support the following:

• Agricultural Economy: Agriculture is not only the backbone of Bosque County but also a key pillar of our nation's economy. I will support and advocate for our agricultural community.

• Parental Rights in Education: Parents have a fundamental right to be involved in their children’s education. I support transparency in the curriculum.

• Second Amendment Rights: I am a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. I believe in the fundamental right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms for the protection of their families, themselves, and their property.

• Law Enforcement: Our community relies on those who serve as law enforcement officers. I am committed to backing our local departments.

• Freedom of Speech: As a conservative Republican, I firmly believe in protecting the  freedoms of speech. The fundamental right to speak your mind is the cornerstone of American society.

• Freedom of Religion: As a conservative Christian, I firmly believe in protecting the freedoms of religion from government overreach.

• Border Security: Maintaining the integrity of our national borders is of critical importance.

• Military: Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to those who serve and have served in our armed forces. I am committed to supporting policies that honor our veterans and assist our active military personnel.

• Constitutional Rights: I believe that the constitution was created to protect the citizens from the government and should be interpreted as it is written. I do not believe that it should be used as a tool to effectuate policy agendas under the guise of social justice.

My Vision for Bosque County

I believe that Bosque County is a great place to live as it has been for generations. I want it to be a place where our grandkids can still ride their bicycles in the street. My goals as Bosque County Attorney will be the following:

• Maintain Strong Support for Law Enforcement: I firmly believe in backing our local law enforcement agencies. By providing them with the necessary legal resources and support, we can ensure the safety and security of our community. My commitment is to work alongside our county's finest to maintain peace and order in our homes and streets.

• Enforce the Law: I believe in maintaining law and order in our communities by enforcing the law.

• Maintain Strong Support for Volunteer Fire Departments: Our dedicated volunteer firefighters are a critical component of our county’s emergency management department. I will aim to give them the support they need to continue to do their job well.

• Advising Elected Officials: Promptly provide advice and guidence to elected officials when it is requested.

• Promote Fiscal Responsibility: I am dedicated to fiscal responsibility in government and will provide counsel to that end. It's crucial that we manage our legal resources wisely to serve the community effectively.

• CPS Matters: Protect the rights of parents to raise their own children. Take action that preserves that right whenever possible.

• Upholding Community Values: Bosque County's rich heritage and strong community values are its backbone. As County Attorney, I would reflect on these values in every aspect of my work, ensuring that our legal system supports the way of life we cherish in Bosque County.
